Ulhas M. Pandurangi, MD is the Chief of Division of Cardiac Electrophysiology & Pacing and heads the Arrhythmia-Heart Failure Academy. Also, heads the Remote Monitoring Unit of CIEDs. He completed his MBBS in Govt Medical College, Bellary, Karnataka in 1990 as well as his MD in Internal Medicine in RNT Medical College in Udaipur, Rajasthan University in 1994 followed by DM in King George’s Medical College in Lucknow in 1997. His postdoctoral EP observation was at University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee in 2001 as well as in University of San Francisco in 2002.
He began his stint at Madras Medical Mission at the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases as a senior consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist from March 1997 to April 2014. He also heads the remote monitoring unit of CIEDs at the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases since April 2013. Having performed more over 5000 radiofrequency ablation procedures for tachyarrhythmias and more than 1500 device implants (pacemaker, AICD, CRT and CRT-Ds), he currently is the Chief of Division of Cardiac Electrophysiology & Pacing at MMM.
The objective of Arrhythmia - Heart Failure Academy is to provide quality clinical and consultative care for patients’ in conjunction with primary health care providers. We, AHFA, with its center of excellence at Madras Medical Mission have performed more than 5000 radiofrequency Ablation procedures for tachyarrhythmia and more than 1500 device (pacemaker, AICD, CRT, CRT-D) implantations. We have expertise in clinical cardiology as well as all types of advanced electrophysiology and device implants. Planning of practice, AFHA since its inception in year 2000 had recognized the need for a cardiovascular team that can handle complex EP cases and PTCAs and that paved the way for Arrhythmia - Heart Failure Academy which served as a boon to its patients’ who received excellent care and its students who have enrolled in the AFHA program.
AHFA specialize in many areas treating both adults and children with cardiac rhythm disorders and cardiovascular disease, peripheral vascular interventions, electrophysiology (treatment of heart arrhythmias), heart failure, congenital heart defects, structural heart disease and other venous disorders.
We commonly treat patients with syncope, palpitations, and many of our patients have no symptoms, but are evaluated because they have heart conditions that might increase the risk of life-threatening cardiac rhythms.

The hospital at Chennai has more than 300 beds, 9 operation theatres for Institute of Cardiovascular Disease, 2 state-of-the-art cineless Cath Labs besides a host of other facilities. The Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is 16-bedded and fully equipped to deal with all cardiovascular emergencies.
